STGCC 2016:What to expect

This year's STGCC  is fast approaching, happening on the 10th to 11th of September 2016 at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center. Do note that this year the convention ground have been moved down to Level B2 at halls E & F instead of the usual level 1 halls. The move is likely that these halls are bigger. The organizers have recently released the 2nd wave of pop culture personalities who are coming down as guests. Here is what is to be expected !

•  STGCC CHAMPIONSHIPS OF COSPLAY

After a successful launch of STGCC's Championship of Cosplay last year(Previously, the competition were of a different format.), the segment is making its return this year. Aiming to unite the like-minded cosplayers of Australia, Austria, China, France, India, Indonesia, Singapore and the United States, Champions of each country will be winning a trip to  win a trip to Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo 2017 and the opportunity to pit themselves against other top-notch competitors.

Genres that are accepted includes:

Comic Books – Examples include: Superman, Spider-Man, Poison Ivy, Dr. Doom,Rogue, etc.

Movies & Television – Examples include: Darth Vader, The Doctor, Rick Grimes,The Terminator, Daenerys Targaryen, Hit-Girl, etc.

Video Games – Examples include: Master Chief, Sarah Kerrigan, Booker DeWitt,Lara Croft, Link,Samus Aran, etc.

Anime & Manga - Ichigo Kurosaki, Mikasa Ackermanm, Sheryl Nome, Captain
Harlock, Eva-01, etc.

Fantasy – Examples include: Witches, Princesses, Zombies, Pirates, Vampires,
Steampunk, etc.

The judging criteria are as follow:

The competition will be judged upon a skill-based category system that divides competitors into the following four segments:

Needlework – Cosplay constructed primarily through sewing, stitching, embroidery, etc.

Armour – Cosplay constructed primarily by molding and shaping its outer layers using acrylic, EVA foam, worbla, wonderflex, cardboard, etc.

FX – Cosplay that primarily features animatronics, optical effects, mechanical effects, special effects makeup, prosthetics, etc.

Larger Than Life – Cosplay that encloses the maker and extends their limbs by at least one-foot in length.

Another Segment that will be returning this year is the Kids cosplay parade. Both handmade & off the shelves costumes are allowed. Parents who want to dress their kids up for the parade can find out more here!

DJ nights and idol appearances have always been the staple at STGCC since its inclusion. This year besides returning favorite like Rie Yunohara. STGCC manage to invite Nomico & Masayoshi Minoshima(Alstroemeria Records) the dynamic duo behind the Touhou hit song Bad Apple! It's their first time in the South East Asian region. Another pairing for the Singer and DJ pairing should be of no stranger to the Touhou/Kantai community as well they are Sae Tsukiyama and Tracy(Amatres Records).
Other idol and idol units including: Rio Hirragi, Road of Alice and Guild stars.

For those who play Rythm games especially the ones from Bemani Series often, I am very sure you know who is Ryu☆ and kors k. This year with Exitunes dance production STGCC DJ night is gonna bring the duo down for the first time. in Singapore.
